Island peak
Island Peak (6,189m): The Alpinist’s Extension
Rising like an island in a sea of ice, Island Peak (Imja Tse) is the ultimate objective for trekkers looking to go beyond the trail. It offers a true Himalayan mountaineering experience—utilizing crampons, ice axes, and fixed ropes—without requiring the years of technical experience needed for the 8,000m giants.
The Experience
The climb is famous for its diversity. You will navigate a glacier, cross crevasses using ladders, and tackle a final, exhilarating 100-meter headwall that leads directly to a sharp, narrow summit ridge. From the top, you are rewarded with one of the most intimate views of Lhotse’s massive South Face, Ama Dablam, and Makalu.
The Ultimate Upgrade: Add to Your EBC Trek
Why just see the mountains when you can stand on one? We have designed our Island Peak Summit Package to be the perfect "add-on" to any Everest Base Camp itinerary.
- Built-in Acclimatization: By the time you finish your trek to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, your body is perfectly "tuned" for the altitude of Island Peak.
- Minimal Extra Time: Adding Island Peak only requires an additional 2–3 days to your standard trekking schedule.
- Base Camp Comfort: We move from the tea houses of the EBC trail to our high-altitude tented camp at the base of the peak, where our climbing Sherpas prepare you for the final push.
Package Highlights
- Pre-Climb Training: Our guides provide a "crash course" at Base Camp on using jumars, rappelling, and glacier walking.
- Elite Climbing Sherpas: 1:1 or 1:2 support ratios to ensure your safety on the headwall and summit ridge.
- High-Quality Gear: We provide the technical hardware, including harnesses, carabiners, and ropes.
