Annapurna Circuit
The Annapurna Circuit is a journey of dramatic contrasts, famous for its "bioclimate" shift. It begins in the lush, sub-tropical lowlands of Nepal, where the trail winds through emerald rice terraces and dense bamboo jungles. As you climb, the landscape undergoes a radical transformation; the greenery fades into pine forests, eventually giving way to the stark, windswept "rain shadow" of the high Himalayas.
The heart of the trek lies in the Manang Valley, where stone villages and fluttering prayer flags reflect a deep Tibetan Buddhist heritage. The journey culminates at the Thorong La Pass (5,416m), a grueling high-altitude crossing that offers a 360-degree theater of jagged, ice-capped peaks.
Descending into the arid Kali Gandaki gorge, the scenery turns lunar and desert-like, leading you past sacred temples and apple orchards. It is a profound loop that connects two massive river valleys, offering a complete immersion into the scale and soul of the Himalayas.
